The story told in this book begins in the small town of Keansburg ,Monmouth County in New Jersey and draws inspiration from War stories of survivors of the Second War World. The main character is Kate a young woman that soon discovers the Love and lives an unforgettable summer. The upcoming war and other adversities lead Kate to split from her beloved Taylor. The two young have to face and overcome several obstacles that the war put them in front. Kate completes a pregnancy bitterly opposed by her mother and has to deal with society sexist prejudices. Taylor, enlisted in United States Navy, lives, like all soldiers involved, with death by his side in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, the scene of bloody naval clashes with the Japanese. The only contact between the two lovers is correspondence, but this is hindered by those who should protect it.
