Linking a promotion/gift to purchase of your book

Has anyone done this?

I want to give people a gift when they buy my book.

They will have to fill out a "form" with their e-mail address to get the gift so I know who they are.
However, if they buy the book and it takes them straight to Amazon, how do I get them back to the site to get the gift?

If I'm not articulating this clearly, please tell me and I'll say it another way.

Thanks,
Rosalie

Thanks. Good idea....my publisher will never allow that (John Wiley & Sons). I'll look into Google Checkout and Amazon Advantage. Thanks for answering.

What you are talking about is known in the industry as conversion tracking, where a conversion is a sale (converting a prospect into a customer). I don't know of any way to track conversions on Amazon. You can track conversions if you sell the items yourself using Google Checkout or something similar (this is what I do in addition to Amazon Advantage).

The low-tech way is to include a coupon-code on the last page of your book and/or eBook. Multiple people could claim the "gift" for a single sale, and your coupon code could end up on Internet coupon sites, so keep that in mind when choosing.

Best of luck!

Brian
