Moonbeam Children's Book Awards Winner 2008!

Meeting Lizzy is the recipient of the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards Bronze for New Young Adult Fiction! The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards are designed to increase recognition of each year's greatest children's books, as well as supporting childhood literacy and encouraging life-long reading. Awards are given in 30 categories covering the wide spectrum of subjects, styles and age groups included the children's book category of today's publishing industry.

The Moonbeam creators, Jenkins Group, believe that, "As our society has gotten more complex and growing up has become more complicated, children’s book authors and publishers have risen to the occasion, creating books that not only celebrate the joys of childhood, but also help kids and families deal with its challenges. The Moonbeam Awards will recognize and reward the best of these books and bring them to the attention of parents, booksellers, librarians – and to children themselves." The offical award ceremony is to take place in January 2009 at the ALA's Midwinter Gathering in Denver. During the event, the Caldecott, Newbery and Moonbeam Book Awards will all be awarded. I'm definitely looking forward to it!
