Natalie Joyner didn't expect her solitary highway drive to turn into the hottest sex she could remember having. Then again, she hadn't expected to run into Deputy Sheriff Logan Sheffield. She savors their sizzling passion in the blazing heat. Little does she know that he intends for what they had to be so much more than A Summer Drive...

She always knew she’d get in trouble wearing thong panties under a short skirt, but Natalie didn’t think it would happen while an officer of the law

frisked her.

Sure, driving fast on a winding road on a late summer afternoon probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do, but all she wanted had been an hour to unwind after a rough day at work, getting the cobwebs out of her mind before she burned out. Too much time spent trying to keep juvenile delinquents out of jail, only to have the kids not care whether they ended up in Caruthers’s Hall, frustrated her sometimes.

She glanced at the grim-faced sheriff’s deputy over her shoulder. “I’m sorry, but I didn’t realize how fast I was going.” Dark-haired and about six feet tall, he wore dark sunglasses which hid his eyes. She knew most of the lawmen in the area, but he was unknown to her.

“There wasn’t another car for miles around.” Maybe she’d be able to cajole him into letting her off easy.

“Except mine,” he replied. “Guess it’s not your lucky day.”

His tone, though mild, sounded firm, with a touch of a southern drawl. Around this neck of the woods in California, one didn’t meet many true-blue Southerners. She eyed the deputy again, and a thrill of anticipation swept through her. If she had a choice of any man’s hands on her right now, he’d be the one.

His fingers slid sensuously over her body, his touch causing a frisson of need coursing up her spine. He searched for...what? Though impersonal, she sensed something more. That underneath his quiet, business-like demeanor was a man with a wicked intent.

Well, two would play the game. Despite her proper reputation among acquaintances, underneath lay a woman who needed some fun once in a while to chase away any dark moods.

And Mr. Cop appeared to be her best candidate at the moment.

“Stay still,” he ordered when she wiggled her ass just the slightest.

“Sorry, officer,” she quietly said, lowering her eyes to hide her smile. Oh, yeah, baby, feel me up.

His hands swept over the sides of her torso and Natalie suppressed another shiver at the way his fingers stroked her. Too long since a man had touched her body. Well, other than her doctor. But sixty-something Doc Walsh didn’t rate on the hottie scale when she had a dark-haired hunk sending sizzling sparks up her spine.
