Poetry Taken From The Novel - The Black College Sabbatical - WINTER QTR (To Be Released March 2009)

I reach for you, but I can't hold you though
Everytime when I know you've gotta leave
I still don't want you to go
I've been wanting & waiting for far too long
You won't let me get close to you and you know you're wrong

Really though, selfish indulgence is my primary focus
I'm just helpless against your intimate Hocus Pocus
Being being eye candy, captivating best describes your spell
I really can't explain how you do it, but you do it oh so well
And hell, how was I suppose to know you'd affect me like this?
I'm like a fish outta water, feeling you...but not being real with you makes this a B**ch!

You leave me breathless...ultimately gasping
For you to surrender and trust me is all that I'm asking
Girl, I swear I'm often light headed after dealing with you
I experience this everytime but you won't let me get close and I'm running out of things to do!

Because I often reach for you, but I can't hold you though
Everytime I know you've gotta leave
I still don't want you to go
You know I've been wanting & waiting for only you for far too long
Still you won't let me prove how I feel to you
And Girl, you know, you're WRONG!
