Press Releases & Promotion (and a hint of table-top dancing!)

I must need a spin doctor. Tomorrow I'm being interviewed by the local newspaper about my new novel, 'Abernethy' (Zeus Publications, www.zeus-publications.com) and one of the first questions will be, where did you get the idea for the book (which tells of a lonely fourteen-year-old whose Dad is in gaol awaiting the outcome of his appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeal - an appellate court here in Australia - and he meets a beagle with powers of speech to certain people - whew, I'm outta breath!). I have no freakin' idea how I came up with that idea. I could say, 'Well, I was sucking on a crack pipe and this vision came to me...' This is untrue, and irresponsible, I suppose (although I will not take responsibility for other people's stupidity). This could float: 'I was gyrating around a pole on a table, a sequinned g-string cleaving those twin, hail-damaged, gelatinous blobs that I call my butt, and while the seedy looking businessman tucked a fifty into the precarious garment, I had this epiphany...' Naaaah. What'm I gonna say? I'll just have to say, 'Well, somehow or other I thought it up, and I want everyone to buy a copy because I have a mortgage and two young children.' Doesn't sound artsy-fartsy or romantic, but at least there's a modicum of truth to it.

Zeus have sent a press release to PR Log, and you can check it out at http://www.prlog/11005776-beagle-witch-and-billy-the-magic-for-fant...

Watched 'Bright Star' last night, about the poet John Keats. Love John Keats. It was a lovely movie, with a lot of pathos. Also, I must admit, the actor playing Keats was smokin' hot. I am so crushing at the moment. Keats died believing he was a failure. I don't want to die believing I'm a failure, so it's book promoting I must go!
