Poetry and Jazz from the Rockies Premieres
on Weekly “Report from the Mountains”
A weekly update of poetry with a twist of jazz begins airing on 90.1 FM, Delta College Public Radio on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 8:50 am during
Morning Edition and again at approximately 12:30 pm during The Session. The 10-minute segment, “Report from the Mountains,” will then continue each Monday at both times.
Produced and hosted by former Saginaw poet Marc Beaudin, the Report comes from the Grizfork Studio, a hundred-year old cabin in the shadow of the Absaroka Mountains of Montana: Beaudin’s new home and writing studio. Featuring poetry by Beaudin and other poets, and short glimpses of life in the mountains, each episode then closes with a selection of music by some of the classic artists of jazz.
Background on the poems and music will be posted on a “
Report from the Mountains” blog which can be found through Beaudin’s website
CrowVoice.com.
Writing at Grizfork Studio
Each day begins
w/ the conversations of magpies
who never run out of things to talk about
Each morning unfolds
w/ the fact of those mountains
who never feel the need to say a thing
I sit at my desk
w/ both of them and try
to grab hold of something that lies between the two
On a good day,
I come close.
