A Simple Time
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
Here we sit, just like we were kids, only with bigger bodies, watchin' 'Daniel Boone' on TV. It's moments like this that make life such a gift. I accept this gift, cherish it and find tremendous joy in sharing it.
Daniel Boone always seemed to do the right thing for the right reasons. He was not prone to impulsivity; a true American Hero. Too bad they don't make TV shows like this anymore. Values and morality have lost ground to pastel fantasy. Very sad indeed. Thank God for re-runs and syndication!
Sitting here, watching, admittedly with one eye... I can remember being a young girl, perhaps my son's age (11), watching, 'Daniel Boone'. He was an idol of sorts; you might even say that I had a bit of a crush on him. I admired the way he got things done. He was one of the good guys.
Interestingly enough, my husband reminds me an awful lot of Daniel Boone. It makes me wonder just how much a television character impacted my perception of my perfect mate.
Lucky for me such a man exists, loves me and sits here watchin' 'Daniel Boone' with me.
