Have just watched a movie - 'Kids' from 1995. Very confronting, and deals with underage sexual activity. One of the characters is diagnosed HIV positive. This is the most depressing movie I have seen since 'Hunger'. But I don't mind a depressing movie occasionally. Life is not all beer and skittles. But right now I'm ready to go and stick my head in the toilet.
Could be just that I'm exhausted. My other half and I baby sat three kids last night, along with our two, as well as the neighbour's lad having a sleepover. Who knew kids en masse could be so energetic late into the night?
Have been busy plugging 'Abernethy', which is due to be printed very shortly. Sometimes feel a bit like I'm pushing a piano uphill.
Got my tax done yesterday, and was given a list of ways to make claims as a writer, eg, petrol for when driving to signings etc. So, I guess if I don't earn that much as a writer, at least I won't lose too much, either. That's gotta be good.
People ask me if 'Abernethy' will have the same characters as 'Calumny...', and the answer to have is no because 'Abernethy' is a foray into Young Adult fiction, and my protagonist has to deal with moving to a new town whilst awaiting the outcome of his father's appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeal for a white collar crime. His dad's in gaol. Maybe 'Abernethy' will be the making of me, who knows?
