Student Challenge – Bullying versus Good Manners!

Are the students in our schools prepared to accept a challenge to practice good manners and common courtesies for one week? Are schools prepared to teach and practice good manners and common courtesies for one week? From one class to another, one school to another, one district to another, and one state to another, are they ready for the challenge – to be challenged, or to challenge! The report statistics are staggering on the number of students bullying and being bullied, not only by other students, but faculty. This is unacceptable. Only today there was a threat of a bomb in a school. Remember the shootings at Paducah, KY? I was there. The change has to start somewhere and schools have the opportunity to make a change in a student’s life, without it costing the school, student, or district any money. I gladly offer my book “Because, It’s Just Good Manners!” as a free download as an incentive and a way of kicking off this project. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Programs have been participated in all month and more are planned for November, such as the Bully Stake-Out which is scheduled for November 9th. Are schools prepared to change? Think about it! A school doesn’t need to hire expensive motivational speakers or purchase costly programs. Can you be a bully and at the same time practice good manners and common courtesies? Can you be rude and insensitive, and at the same time practice good manners and common courtesies? Think about it! My book is offered as a free download. What have they got to lose? If they still want to hire a speaker, they can contact me. I won’t give the usual motivational or empowerment speech because that may only be good as long as people are sitting in the auditorium. And, they don’t need me to tell them bullying is a problem. They already know it. What I will speak to is “Bully Asset Awareness and Leverage”, to classes, parents, and faculty. This isn’t about pointing out the obvious problem; it is about turning a liability into an asset – turning a bad situation into a good situation. This challenge is pure win-win, so, why shouldn't they go for it! I dare them! Do you?
