Healing from the pain and depression we experience throughout our lives isn’t easy. We can’t just snap our fingers and feel okay the next minute. It is a long process that we have to take step-by-step, and there are no shortcuts. According to Dr. Les Parrott and Dr. Neil Clark Warren, there are three components in the healing process. First we must identify our blind spots; second, we must stop the blame game, and finally we must learn to forgive.

Identifying our issues is difficult. We must be willing to look deep within ourselves and face our problems. Although, facing our issues is one thing, identifying our issues…that is a whole different matter. Initially, I couldn’t even identify my issue much less take any step to heal. As I believe to be true for anyone, having lived a life of denial caused me to bury my issues deep inside of me. Consequently identifying them became a huge challenge. I was depressed but I simply could not identify the root cause of my problems. Fortunately I stuck with it. Eventually I peeled back the layers and came face to face with…me…the real me.
