The backstory of Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill Adventure series with Author Renee Hand

I got the idea for my Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill adventure series from a family member. I was at my uncle’s birthday party and my cousin Joe, who had a little too much to drink, came up to me telling me about this great idea he had. He had an idea for a character named Joe-Joe who goes on all of these different adventures. Joe-Joe goes skiing; Joe-Joe goes hiking, and so on. Throughout the entire night Joe kept coming up to me and telling me and my family about his idea and that we were going to make millions. We were getting quite a laugh out of it. There was about ten of us in our little group. Well, at the time I was already thinking about creating a younger mystery series because of the many requests I was receiving from my fans with younger children who weren’t ready for my older Crypto-Capers Series yet.  For me, it is all about education, so I knew that I wanted to have school themes, but who were going to be the characters? The more I thought about it the more I thought that my cousin was on to something with Joe-Joe. As crazy as it sounded, I could make this work. So I began to think of a story. But, Joe-Joe has to have a partner. He can’t solve cases on his own. So, the question was—who? It just so happened that I was spending time with my uncles who, for some reason and always have, call each other Biscuit. Biscuit head, everybody’s a biscuit. Well, from that I got Joe-Joe’s partner, Biscuit Bill. So Joe-Joe Nut is a squirrel and Biscuit Bill is a duck and they are animal detectives. One character inspired by my cousin, the other by my uncles. That is how the Joe-Joe Series began.

Stories for Children Publishing will be touring Renee Hand’s latest children’s book, “The Adventures of Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill Case #2 Mineral Mischief” all month long in

April 2011.

Renee Hand is an award-winning author, educator, tennis coach and various other things. Hand has been writing for over twenty years and has six publications. She also writes for various chronicles and newsletters, as well as reviews for various authors of children´s books on her blog, http://thecryptocapersseries.blogspot.com.

Renee Hand's love for reading and writing started when she was a child. Renee always had a passion for it and remembers frequently wearing out the stone steps to the local library. When in a bookstore, she would sit in the middle of an aisle perusing a novel that she was eagerly going to purchase, but couldn’t wait to read. Often, when Renee has extra time, she will write stories that pop into her head...locking herself in her room for hours. Now that Renee is older, her love for reading and writing has not diminished. In fact, it has only become a bigger part of her. It is because of this that Renee chose to share her interests with other readers who love books as much as she does.

Book Blurb:

Joe-Joe and Biscuit found themselves in a dark and dreary cave, and in front of them, sitting on an ornately carved stone pedestal, was Maple’s mineral. To reach out and take it would be so easy. It glistened like stars in a midnight sky, attracting their attention, luring them. There had to be a catch somewhere. Something wasn’t right. Joe-Joe and Biscuit stood beside the pedestal, analyzing it. There was a circle in the center of the pedestal, and the mineral was placed in the center of that circle.
