There are not too many words better in the human language than free. There is a popular saying that says “the best things in life are free.” I have to admit I believe that the best things in life are free for more than one reason. When I look at the sun, admire the oceans, smell the fresh air, or feel the rain touch my head I can appreciate the freedoms of the world. The human life cost nothing to create even though hospitals charge a lot to deliver a baby (laughing). There is one gift greater than human life and it is absolutely free for us to receive but it cost God everything. That is the gift of eternal life in heaven and God has sent out the greatest invitation of them all for the world to receive this gift.
Heaven what a miraculous place there will be no need for money in heaven because God owns everything (Isaiah 55). God being our Father in Heaven left his children an inheritance and all that are called his children will receive the reward. The word of God says that only those who trust in Jesus for their salvation are truly the children of God (John 1:12). God has infinite riches that he has left unto his children in the same manner as one would leave a will. A will and testament is created to make sure the belongings of a deceased party are passed on properly and it becomes active once the testator or deceased party dies. God has laid the ground work and written his will and testament in the Holy Bible and he owns heaven and earth. When Jesus died on the cross the will of God to his children became active and all the riches of heaven have been given to us.
My life changed the day I realized that Heaven was a free gift that couldn’t be earned or deserved (Ephesians 2:8-9). God offered us a gift to live with him forever and certainly we all understand that gifts can’t be bought. There have been many tragedies throughout the years in the lives of Christians who tried to buy salvation with their own good deeds. A heavy burden was placed on them when they realized that they could never be good enough to earn heaven because they were sinners. They neglected the love of God and his grace for work. At the end of their life they expected to go to heaven and tell God I have been so good now you owe me eternal life. How tragic because God never intended salvation to work this way. God sent his son to die for our sins and all that trust in Jesus for salvation shall be saved. The grace of God was his gift to us because he knows are shortcomings only thing he asked in return was for us to believe that he could save our sinful souls and forgive our sins. We work for God because we love him and we want to introduce others to him but our salvation is absolutely free. Salvation costs us nothing but it cost God his very life on the cross. Remember to create the world Jesus Christ spoke it into existence but to save the souls of mankind Jesus had to bleed.-Amen
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.-John 3:16
