The Most Effective Way to Score High in CAT 2014

CAT- Common aptitude exam 2014 is the key to get a seat in most coveted B-schools of India or say IIM’s and few others.  The test is conducted online and tests candidates time management , quantitave skills and logicala nd analytical reasoning. Attaining a good percentile does take toil and lakhs of students appear in CAT to aspire roughly 3300 seats of IIM.

  • Time management/Planning feasible study Schedule – Devoting hours would not do the trick, it is about qualitative study and not quantitative.
  • Give mock tests and papers and anaylize your strengths and weaknesses. Work onthe sectiones you scored least and know the areas you lack hold in.
  • To develop speed and accuracy, keep practicing in the Study-schedule you have made above,  for CAT prepaprations.
  • Practice that section first in which you are strong, because that will let you gain confidence and increase your score in CAT. Then move on to the other sections and practice them level wise. To avoid boredem , study 2-3 sections a day, devoting a little time to each as per your absorbing capacity.
  • Make your Basics strong to attain perfect solving speed. Ace the shortcuts of Mathematics and learn from youtube or cat books on how to make calculations short or how to add or subtract 4-digit above in mind only. Learn power of 2 and power of 3 till 12, learn math tables on tips up to 20.
  • Learn 10 words daily and make use of the vocabulary in dail-life, on fb or twitter to memorize them permanently. Read newspaper regularly to have hold on language.
  • Never study from one book, buy sets from renowned authors after reading the reviews.
  • If your friend is also giving CAT exam, ask for keeping a healthy competition. Take each other’s test for the same chapter and see the progress. This will keep you focussed and going.
  • Keep a leisure time routine also in between studying-schedule; indulge in listening to music, walk, sports or gym to keep your brain healthy and away from aversion to study. Eat soaked almonds, fruits and healthy stuff. When health is good, brain will not hamper the study routine.
  • Remember that you cannot afford to skip a year to attain higher percentile next time, or to get admission in the targeted b-school. So, think about it seriously when your schedule gets disturbed. The fear and seriousness will probably let you come back to the studying routine
  • Always Stay Positive! - The key to do things ‘correctly’.
