Mark Thorpe was diagnosed as being HIV positive, seriously ill he was in a battle for his life that there was no guarantee he would win. But slowly, gradually he fought through and started to put his life back together.

With a new job, a new partner and the disease under control it was time to celebrate. He went to New York, his favorite city, unaware that terrorists were about to threaten the city once more. Oblivious to the news Mark goes off to explore but if ever there was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, this was it.

He is kidnapped and, with many others, taken hostage by terrorists with no regard for human life. Once more he was in a life threatening situation.

He feels a steely resolve coming over him, having just got his life back he was not about to let it be taken away again. He was prepared to do whatever he needed to do to protect himself and the other innocent hostages.

He was about to become a reluctant killer, but could a man in a strange city with HIV status also become a reluctant hero.

There still exists a strong prejudice against HIV, which is why Mark kept his illness secret, even from close friends and employers. But now circumstances might dictate that the whole world may find out.
