The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Writing is where it all begins. But the hardest part ;is promoting what you have written. I recently attended a presentation by an Indie publisher. He like so many quoted a rather medium price to do everything for you except really promote or sell your book.  He did tell me that about 77,000 people were trying to promote their books so I wondered why I am continuing to write. Getting your book out there and having many people read it is now something like playing the lottery.  In fact, your chances may be even less. Another interesting thing happened.  I am not too active in using Facebook but I read many posts particularly from distant relatives and friends I have lost track of. One comment was that Facebook was becoming boring. So many folks don't really write anything, they just post a poster or quote or a photo.  Or a recipe for brownies.

That's it for today.  What's y our thought?    By the way, if you haven't  reviewed my new book "Spirit Dog" on Amazon, you'll find the description just by going to the page and clicking on the cover.

Here's another day and I see few people, in fact no one has read my last posting.

I recently met an author named Anna Renault who said she always carried a copy of her book with her. In her case it was really books because she had about 17 small books about health, children's stories and collections of other people's writings that she had published as one book. However, her words were true. I carried a copy of my recently published book "Spirit Dog" with me for a doctor's appointment. While sitting in the hospital lobby I began talking with the volunteer receptionist.  She mentioned that she had once traveled to Oklahoma. "What a coincidence" I pulled out my book from my bag and told her I had recently  published a children's book about a boy and his dog living in Oklahoma in the 1800s. "Where can I buy it?" she asked.  "On Amazon,"  I replied, but I will sell you this one. She bought it on the spot. So if you see a crazy lady with a book in her shopping bag, you'll know it's me.  Call this a real marketing tip!
