HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
The blessings we ask for this season
Aren't the kind that come wrapped with a bow;
We're asking for gifts from the heart,
Ones we need and never outgrow.
May we see in these bright decorations
With their colors and lights all aglow,
The beauty and wonder of life
That God's world was created to show.
Let the peace and goodwill of this season
Be feelings that we can extend
Far into the following year
To our neighbors, our family, and friends.
Most of all, may we always remember
To open our hearts every day and share all the love and the joy
In a special and meaningful way.

I know--I can't believe how big my little boy is already! I just miss sleeping. ;)

Your book looks really interesting. It's good you got a chance to make that trip with your dad. I know my husband had wanted for a while to make a big fishing trip with his dad, but his dad died before they could make that happen. It's definitely important to make time for those moments instead of waiting for that "later" that never comes.

Thanks for stopping by!

I understand injuries... In 1981 I fell 75 feet rockclimbing in West Virginia and I still live with those challenges. All though I continue to exercise and push my limits. When I thought I was going to need a cane, about 10 years ago, I started kickboxing instead and now have developed more flexibility in my left ankle (they had to nail that one together) than I had in years prior.

Let me know about your motorcycle page! I too have other projects. I organize a triathlon that benefits the children of fallen special operations warriors. That website is www.AmericanWarriorTriathlon.com

I welcome any and all comments!

Never surrender and Vaya con Dios!

my bike was a Honda Magna....and it rode beautiful and was the right length for me. I had to have a heel toe shifter kit put on as my left ankle had been badly damaged years ago and finally surgery again to fuse it together...so it doesn't bend which made it almost impossible to shift.

But with the heel toe shifter on it, I could do it great. If I ever win that lottery, I will buy a trike. I know I could do one of those still. My hands and legs are full of arthritis so at times I have to use a wheel chair to get round in.

I can walk using a cane but not that far, so when shopping or things like that I have to use a wheelchair. Getting old is hard when the health goes, but like the engergizer bunny, I keep on going.

I'm working on a motorcycle page now at www.shirleysmotorcyclenews.com and it has a photo of my bike....my daughter is on the cover of that book as she looked better than I did....when I damaged my ankle thirty years ago I was in a wheel chair for two years and crutches and casts....I broke everything in it not just a bone or two...so I gained weight. When I did the cover, I just put her on it....she just turned fifty this year....

PS I have to say your book sounds great. I was fifty seven when I first got on a motorcycle with my brother in law and loved it....so much that I bought my own Honda.

A bright yellow one and also wrote a book called, Road ANgels about women who ride. Had to sell it a few years ago to get a car but I'll never forget the fun it was was to ride. It took my mind away from my problems and let me be happy for a little bit....I just wish I'd have started riding earlier in life when my health was better....but at least I did have a few years of riding....

Sorry about your mother. I know the holidays are hard without our loved ones with us but we find the strength to go on. While I will probably never get back to speaking at the schools, I will make another DVD with my son and me on it for the teens. That will go along with the Choice Is Yours DVD that we used to take to the schools for the kids to watch.

With both my sons gone, it's too hard to try and speak out any more, but on a dvd I can do it over until it's right...

I have three great grandkids who live right near me and I see them every day...and my daughter and two dogs so I keep on going, working and living....writing and reading the way my son's would want me to do....good talking to you Shirley

Hi Dennis, good to get to know you. I believe all authors should help each other when they can and so any time I can help, I will.

great to be on your friend isting....and thanks for the comment. I just finished my book a couple of months ago, A Mothers Torment, which is my life story brought up to date the past twenty years. It was published back in 93 and the publishing company took out so much and changed names, and so this time around, I published it myself, using all the right names and left in everything that happened.

Since then both my sons have been killed and of course I'm twenty years older but I still speak out when I can to the kids and the schools are buying my DVD on the Choice Is Yours that I filmed on TN death row.....

It's been hard going on without them, but I know they would want me to for the girls...and grandkids and great grandkids....anyway, good to get to know you... Shirley
