About marketing... I hope you aren't offended, but being as lovely as you are helps. You'll look good on TV, too.
Blessings on your path,
Newt

Congratulations!!! on The Advocate!!!
Now you get to face the second hurdle... becoming "known."
I read that one of the twerps on an MTV reality show has a novel coming out. I'm happy for her, but if she weren't on that show with Heidi Montag (who ever) she would be as unknown as we are, and prayling for sales.
There are three major hurdles for a writer:
1. learning to write well, with something to say, in a new way (The Book)
2. breaking in (The Publishing Contract)
3. getting known (The Sales)

I'm contemplating a string of bank robberies to get my name in the news.
(But not seriously)

Blessings on your path,
Newt

I'll have a go then, Teresa. The book looks good. If I don't win, I'll buy a copy any way.

Hi Teresa,

I keep getting invitations to enter your comp for a free copy of your novel, The Advocate, but unfortunately as I live in the UK I don't think this will be possible. Thanks though for the thought.

How many pages does your book have? You said publishers are not willing to invest in a big book for a first time author.

I just posted a comment to you. I'm not sure what I did, but it disappeared. So I'm sending it again. So If you get a repeat, I'm not going crazy.

Thanks for your encouraging words about my website and book. Tho I'm not a very patient person, I will have to persevere in seeking a publisher. I need to get this done.

I am so excited for you re signing with a publisher. Tell me how it went. Did they call you or write? Did you respond immediately or wait to make sure you were not dreaming? Were they in your town or not? Did you fly/drive in for the big meeting? Were you sitting at one end of the table & them at the other? Give! Give!

Thanks for responding so quickly. My book is science fiction. I self published. But now I want to go thru a publisher. The book is quite big - 730 pages. I want to make it 2 books so it won't be so intimidating. I also want to make some other changes. If you want, you can check out the book's website at www.larksong.org.

Isn't it great to be able to communicate in so many different ways? I love everything I do and would have to say that teaching is at the heart of it all.

Hi Teresa,

I look forward to hearing more about your debut novel, The Advocate. It's a wonderful feeling to have your first novel, or any novel for that matter, in print, but the first is special and I wish you great success with it.
