"Calgon-take me away!"-was from tv commercials in the 80's and possibly even 90's for a bubble bath product. The ad spots always featured stressed out women that needed a soothing, relaxing break from their hectic lives.
Hope the insurance works out without you having to keep at them.
Thanks for the kind words. Sure, I would love it if you post a link to the story on your website. Sorry I have to be brief today, I am teaching this morning. Thanks again.
Those evil insurance companies-always looking to save themselves a buck at the customer's expense. I hope you are victorious in your endeavors and find your daughter insured once again.
S'ok if you don't get the time to check out Blood and Fire-life happens. Sounds like if you do get any free time you might just want to ask Calgon to take you away! lol :-)
Okay-I will try to pay closer attention to all the nuances of your website. I think last time I just looked at the home page.
Just went back to your page and followed your new link. I like the way your site looks, though I kinda miss that evil eye you had up before :)
Yes, life does get busy, doesn't it? Hope you do get the time to do some reading. That is what I like about this site. I have had a chance to read all these stories by authors I had never heard of before. It is also pretty cool that we can comment on each other's work, post reviews and even just say hi.
That sounds like it would make a great series. I enjoyed the Fantastic 4 movies, though I never read the comics. I did find some comic books at the thrift store a while back called The Elementals. They kind of reminded me a little of F4.
Ha! Glad to see you met Danny. I liked his book a lot, though I think only part of it is up on authonmy for reading.
Cool. I would like to read your collection of short stories once you get it out there for sale. In the mean time, I hope you post your next one on your site.
I just bought Soul Lifter by Martin Murphy. I got it for $2.99 on amazon. He is another writer here on TBMN. I will post my review on my blog after I finish it.
To answer your question, yes, I have ideas for more books in the Blood and Fire series. I want to get some feedback from more readers on what I have completed so far. Marilyn also has many more chapters to type up that I have handwritten in my notebook. Right now, about half my book is available in the content section of my page.
Let me know when you get your next short story up.
I know exactly what you mean. I have done that plenty of times myself. I wrote a novel length thing that I could never finish before I managed to force myself to finish the novella.
My second one is posted, so If you get a chance to read some of the chapters posted on authonmy, let me know what you think. I could use as much feedback as possible, even if it's negative. I want to make it a better book if possible. Reallly, I am having trouble with the ending. I finished it once, but the ending just did not work, so...still plugging away...thanks for writing...Danny
Yes, things are going well. Marilyn did another edit on the rough draft of Blood and Fire: The Vampire/ Dragon Wars. I need to replace the one I have posted on my page with the updated version.
I just reread the first half of my book last night while I was signed in. I did find some errors here and there, but for the most part, it is a pretty quick read. 50,000 words and it took me about 4 hours to read.
I have a prototype book cover illustration and a color map that I need to scan and add to my photos. They are too big for my scanner, so I am going to see if Kinkos can scan them and email to me.
I would like to read your next short story. Maybe you can post it on your site and then take all your short stories combined and sell them on amazon as a complete book.
Long time no talk. Hope you had a good holiday. You posted anymore short stories lately?
Just got done reading Steve Downes' new episode of Shadows and Dominions.
Also, there is another member that is relatively new to the site named Danny R. Collins. His book is free to read on Authonomy. It is entitled Swords of Gehenna.
Glad to hear you had an enjoyable Christmas with your family. Marilyn and I had a good time up here in Julian, though we did not get the white Christmas that I was hoping for.
You can find Marilyn on the first page of members. Her last name is Mc Caskey. She lives in San Diego, which is the closest big city to where I live. San Diego County is a big place that stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the half way point to Arizona. I live in the mountains about an hour to an hour and a half away from the city.
I have actually visited Port Angeles, albeit briefly, as I was waiting to catch the ferry to Victoria. I did have a little time to explore while waiting for the next boat and so ventured up the hill to check out Olympic National Forest. Really beautiful up there! There is kind of a visitor center that looks like a lodge and the view from that field reminded me of that scene from The Sound of Music when she twirls and sings 'The hills come alive...'. Anyways, I would love to come back up and visit that area again sometime.
Yes, please keep me posted when you have a new short story up. I think that after I finish my book, that I might just try doing short stories for a while. Novels are exhausting!
I hope you and your husband had a great Christmas. I just finished reading The Wreath. Murder and psychosis for Xmas! I love it! Keep the short stories coming.
Oh, if you get a chance, welcome Marilyn, my girlfriend to the site. She just joined a few days ago.
I am just about to post my next blog with the same heading as last time. Marilyn just got me Tim Flanagan's book, The Moon Stealers. I am almost done reading it on her Kindle. It is only 99 cents on Amazon. It is kind of in the tradition of Harry Potter, though it reminds me more of 61 Nails by Mike Shevdon.
Okay, take care and I look forward to reading your next short story.
I will be looking forward to your next story. Yes, I did get Marilyn a few nice things for Xmas. Some of those items I listed in my blog-shh! Its okay-she's not a member of this site yet, so won't spoil the surprise. :-)
Elance is a site where writers can find work. It is free to join. You create your own profile and can bid on jobs. You can also take tests to show your level of skill in various subjects. For example, if you claim to have competency in Spanish, they have a test that will grade your skill level.
Admittedly, I have not scored a gig on their site yet, but I have also not put as much effort into it as I could have. In fact, I should probably log back in to see what is available because it has been several months since I last checked.
Yes, I think that would be a great idea for you to compile all your short stories into one book. Some of my favorite reads have been collections or anthologies of works under 40 pages each, especially in the arenas of horror and sci-fi.
Let me know when you have your latest story posted to your web page. I was on it last night, looking for it, but I guess you are still working on it?
Okay, well hope you and your husband have a Merry Christmas,
Yes, I would very much like to finish reading your story. As for my incomplete book-it is available on my page here on The Book Marketing Network as well as on my profile on Elance. I must warn you that it is only on a Wordstarter doc and is only a rough draft.
My girlfriend is the computer geek and master typist. I write with pen and paper. I never even had email until I started working with her at Caltrans. Getting on the site was a big step for me. Maybe eventually we will look into having a website of our own. But, for now, I just want to test the waters here.
Thanks for adding me as a friend and I will follow that new link you gave so I can finish your story.
I followed your link and read Going My Way?. It is a great teaser. I hope you have more to come. I especially liked when her face became all horrific. Please finish it, I would like to read more.
