I don't believe B&N in Troy will host a signing for self-published authors; not even on consignment. But, I did talk to John about the signing in Rochester and he thinks it's a great idea. I'd like to meet the new events manager and discuss it with her. The next step is to see if she will be interested and then go from there. What do you think?
Okay Michelle! Sounds good! I'm thinking about calling B & N in Troy because I heard they were selling my book there. Any advice on how to approach them about signings? Are they usually receptive to order more copies?
I wrote to John to see what he thinks about he idea before I speak with the events manager. I'll let you know what his response is as soon as I know, then we'll go from there.
Hey,
When I do signings for Chicken Soup For The Soul, of course, there are plenty stocked in any bookstore. I really enjoy doing those signings.
Do you live in Michigan? It would be interesting if I could set up a signing at Barnes and noble in Rochester, Mi., for The Ning Network. We could promote Ning as well as our own books. It's just a thought. What do you think? We could have a few authors from Ning. I used to know the events manager at that particular store, she has left the state and has introduced me to her replacement. I guess this is something I could talk with John Kremer about and see what he thinks and if there are authors willing to do this.
That's great! Articles/Reviews are a wonderful way to get the word out. When I did booksignings for Waldenbooks, they ordered the books. They ordered 100 copies of The Golden Locket and I just about sold every copy. You know family and friends mainly. Now, I am mostly promoting All About Me and I do bring my own copies. Which is fine with me. You have to start somewhere. I have been doing this a long time though and you meet and get to know many wonderful people along the way. Mainly, I am working on getting the word out about my class that I have devised that utilizes my workbook, All About Me. It's a wonderful class for today's youth. Are you getting your book noticed throughout the school system?
Yes, I have. I do booksignings at Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores. I also have a few speaking engagements lined-up every so often. When I have an event, I normally get some type of interview done in the news to help spread the word. How are you getting the word out about your book?
Michelle, Thanks for the invite! I'm a Catholic school girl as well so I can't wait to read your book! Also love the charity tie-in, very smart.
Best of luck to you!
