Something About Me and My Book:
I write a mystery series, astrology and law enforcement. I've done both. Novels and short stories are based on cases I've been involved with while working for the local sheriff. Everything I write is set in the San Joaquin Valley of California.

I'm also acquisitions editor for Oak Tree Press' mystery and Western lines.

Welcome to Your World

One of the curses of being a writer is when people say “I've had a fascinating life. You should write about me.”

I've had a fascinating life myself. I caused a small riot in a train station in Hanover, Germany, and another riot in a marketplace in…

You've Changed. Has Your Website?

Websites are now as important for establishing identity as a birth certificate or a driver's license. Yet, I've noticed that once an author puts one up, the site is often forgotten and neglected.

I research authors when they send me query letters in my capacity as acquisitions editor for Oak Tree Press. I like to know who I'm dealing with and, short of doing a background check, websites are all I have to give me an inkling of their accomplishments up to this stage in their…

What Do You Bring to the Table?

Independent presses have a lot to offer today's aspiring authors. The slush pile is smaller and the chance for an unknown, untried author to get a contract is greater. I couldn't afford to buy all the books they tried to ram down my throat and wouldn't have time to read them if I wanted to. No, I wanted people to buy MY…

LOL I'm having a heck of a time figuring these sites out. I know I can put up a page on Facebook for promotion, but I'll be darned if I can figure that one out either. Okay, I'll go head down and butt up and see if I can put it all together.

Short blog on Stacy Juba's site today, and one on the Oak Tree site that was supposed to go up next week, but I screwed it up and put it up today. sigh. Believe it or not, I am trying. Oh, and I did receive an invitation to do a blog at Writers Who Kill in February.

Oh,
