Hello, I'm Bert Martinez, I'm looking to network with success minded authors. If you would like my free report 30 Strategies for Selling More Books just fill out the form below. I look forward to networking with you and if there is anything that I can help you with please do not hesitate to contact me.
Whoa, It looks like you might be able to either profit by or contribute to my new Self Publishing group here on BMN.
Please take a look, we're trying to build it into a resource for writers who prefer to be their own publisher.
How I got on Oprah--well, that's a long story that happened very quickly. Suffice it to say that I knew what they were looking for and had a great story that tied in with a show that they were in production on (a follow-up to the book The Secret). It's true that in my work, I do have relationships with some of the production teams there, though.
My advice for anyone interested in being on the show is to watch the "Be on the Show" page at oprah.com for upcoming shows. Tailor your pitch to what they are looking for, and BE SUCCINCT. Have b-roll of yourself and be ready for things to move really fast once they do.
I don't advise going directly to producers (someone's cousin-in-law works there, etc.), unless you have a personal relationship with them. The submission page goes to the assigned production team for that story, and they do read what is submitted to them.
Thanks for the comment....I'm excited to start writing my new book. We are going to include interviews, stories, etc. about SL users in the book - maybe you could add some insight on how you use it when we get to that point?
