Winner in NaNoWriMo contest for November 2014

This morning, I wrote over the 50,000 words needed to be considered one of the winners in the National Novel Writing Month contest (nanowrimo). This is my fifth year for entering the contest, and it has taken me this long to be able to write that title without having to look it up to get the words in order.

Now begins the editing which takes longer than writing the book does which by the way is titled Will O Wisp –soon to be the eighth book in my Amazing Gracie Mystery series that takes place in fictional Locked Rock, Iowa. I've got about six months to whip the book into shape and get it published at Create Space Self Publishing. Usually, it doesn't take me that long, because I always have other stories ideas to work on so I need to move on.

Thanksgiving is coming next week, and I take the time to think about what I have to be thankful for like family and friends. Some of which we will be spending Thanksgiving day with if the weather permits. Next week looks snowy here on most of the days so we'll see. If we can't get out to go celebrate for the two different meals we will have a large bowl of fruit salad and a pumpkin spice cake to enjoy for a few days at our house.

There has been so many people that have encouraged and supported me with my writing including family and friends plus the people from around this country and in other countries that buy my books. One of the people that I appreciate is a woman who lives near an Amish settlement out east and is friends with some Amish. She knew my latest Amish book was going to have a wedding and reception in it so she sent me a detailed report of a modern day Amish reception so I would know. She took the time to take Amish scenery pictures for me to use as book covers. One of those pictures is on the cover of Doubting Thomas the seventh book in the Nurse Hal Among The Amish series with the detailed reception inside. I'm going to have fun for several years to come, deciding which picture will be the best for each story I write. I have some pictures I took at Kalona when we have visited there. One was a horse drawn Cinderella Coach which I wrote a story for so I could use the coach on the cover. So many of the pictures my friend has and will send me will be the inspiration for my stories so I can use the pictures on the covers. Those pictures are a true gift which I will always treasure.

I've always tried to publish my books on a shoestring which means not using an editor, book cover illustrator, ebook maker, or buy the right to use a picture off the internet that is copyrighted by some company which charges for the picture's use. This truly means that I am a one woman Booksbyfay Publisher business.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
