For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

i gave been kind of pushed into a new situation and i need a ittle guidance i had a small publisher who has diappeared into thin air, now i know that he is in the reserves and was called up once. i think he was recalled again but i'm not certain. the last time i heard from him, he mentioned something about me becoming an independent representative with lightningsource who is the pod/distributor. then nothing for almost three months. the phone is gone and emails bounced back

i did gey in toucj with lightningsource and am setting up my own account as my own publishing company.

so i guess my next question is where cor what do i do from here? i mean i do have a couple of mss that need editing before going to print but how, as a new publisher, do i get my company publicized and considered by the stores.

Setting up your own publishing company is setting up a business and must adhere to your state's business laws. You have to go to your local county and apply for a business license, you will need to apply for a state sales tax number, and those are just two things that will have to be done.

There is a lot involved with setting up a business so think carefully about it. I did it. I am glad I did it, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. There is a lot of trial and error, a lot of rewards, and a lot of hard work. You put time into it that you could be putting into writing. And unless you have lots of money to hire people to do things for you, you do it all! I know!!!!!

So no matter what you decide I wish you the best of luck. Just make sure you really know what you are getting into no matter what way you decide to publish. They all have their pros and cons.
