The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Here is what I’d like to do. I’d like to get corporate/foundation sponsors to buy copies of my Y.A. books for high schools around the country.

I write young adult fiction for kids 12 and up. My publisher is Harlequin. Since the publication of the series I get e-mails daily from students claiming that they didn’t like to read until they started reading my series. The Keysha’s Drama series is about a 16 year old girl whose family support system breaks completely down and she’s forced to live in a group home for teens at risk. In addition the American Library Association selected Keysha’s Drama as a quick pick for reluctant young readers.

I am getting requests from students and high school librarians asking me if I’d visit their school. I live in Illinois and requests have come in from Cleveland, Georgia, California, Michigan and New York. Does anyone have a model of how to get corporations or foundations to support an effort such as this?

I was on a teleseminar with Steve Harrison and his guest, James M( can't spell his name!) and that very subjest was discussed. I'm suggesting that you go to his web site:www.speaking for money.com and get yourself posted on www.speakersite.com as well.
Event coordimators and meeting planners are the ones who control the money. Create a topics list and describe how what you can share will impact the lives of the persons in the audience.
I hope this helps!
All the best,
Chloe
I would seek the advice of the guidance counselors at the individual schools. Outreach in the school community is something schools are getting into so they must have a reference of corporations or foundations you can approach. Hope this helps.
