The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I'd like to start a new forum where people can talk about what's working for you right now in marketing your book.

I think this will help other authors to prioritize their activities if they can find out what's working for other people. This would be especially valuable to new authors.

I've share the hottest tool that I'm using right now. And that's Twitter. As you will note on the main page of this Book Marketing Network website, both my http://www.bookmarket.com website and this network have been rising in Alexa ranks (and visits) because of my use of Twitter.

Good information Kim! I found people on twitter buying my books because of the consistant conversations and following others on various social sites. At the end of the day, people want to know are you just trying to sell me a product or are you really my friend. Are you on twitter? Follow me and I will follow you back. Name under www.1drlove/twitter.com
Hi Shon,

I tried the link but it came up page not found. I am on twitter. My profile page is http://twitter.com/KimberleyLB
Why is twitter so helpful? thanks
You can build a great network of people there-- just like any other social network. But I think what makes Twitter so popular with the average person is that the updates are short enough to read. Some people have no time to read anything with words unless it's short and that makes Twitter great.

I like it because it gets my brain to think creatively. Making things short can be tough, but sometimes I come up with some zingers that really caught some people's eyes.
Just to chime on Steve and Kim's comments. I like Steve's point of view about meeting at friend's homes. My book is a small business development book and aimed at solo entrepreneurs so I plan to visit people I know in a few cities and go to small business networking events, meet more people that way and then invite them to my event. I really believe in the power of viral marketing. For instance, I have close family in Tucson and I have already befriended some new followers on Twitter who live in Tucson and are small business owners. I am interested in what they do as well so it is about building community. When I go there it will be fun to meet them in person. I have a similar plan for Boulder and will add others gradually. It will also give me a chance to visit family and close friends and make it a business trip!

I have recently began to figure out why Twitter is so important. It allows you to connect with a huge community of people who are interested in similar topics as you are. Read John's free Twitter manual as it has really good information on how to use Twitter for the best results. You do have to know what your intention is. Follow me and I'll follow you back. http://www.twitter.com/kayasinger
I can't wait to have time to spend on Twitter and Facebook. My MS is at the editors, I'm adding the pictures waiting and polishing the works up with Bio, book cover, photo, etc.

Like all of us, I've had way too much going on to keep the Twitter going. I honestly joined at least three years ago and have let it sit. In that time, I could have built up a wonderful audience with interest in my memoirs.
Cool. That is helpful and I will follow you (not stalk you of course I'm not that creepy hahaha)
Great Twitter posts! Any suggestions on aquiring more group members on Facebook?
I know how difficult it is for new authors to promote their books. I added three pages on my website http://trishsilver.com to help new authors to promoter their books. Every month I spotlight five authors on my Spotlight on New Authors Page. I also have a page entitled New Author's Links for authors waiting to be spotlighted or those who have completed their month. The third page is called Promote Your Bookk. On this page I spotlight authors like John Kremer that help fellow authors in specific concrete ways. I also have links to sites that I have found that are very useful for authors. I hope you all will visit my site and take advantage of all it will provide for you at no cost.
Google Books Digital Edition in a way we can only have imagined. See this link for more information
Hi Patrick. I am interested in the March 10 2010 tutorial. I have downloaded Yuuguu. How do I sign up for the tutorial with you? Also do you twitter?
