The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Are there any particular elements that should be included in the back copy, (the copy on the cover of a book), or is it a matter of simply highlighting what the author believes would help sell the book?

I guess a short bio with a picture should be included? Everything I'm producing sounds canned and deadpan? Suggestions, help, feedback, anyone?

This is the same recomendation I received. Browse through the book store and look at the books in your genre. 100 words or less was recommended to me.
I settled on a "Why you should buy this book essay." No picture. Because "The Truth About Vashtai" is my first novel I felt it was more important to sell the book than me.
The back cover is really the place where you sell the book. Potential readers check out the cover and turn to the back cover to see if they like the book. This is where you have to place a well-crafted book blurb to convince the reader to fork over money. Besides the blurb, add a rave review or two if there is space.
Thank you. I appreciate the responses.
