SHADOW CAY FINALIST- 2011 READER VIEWS LITERARY AWARDS

February 14, 2011 - Reader Views Announces Literary Awards Finalists. Now that SHADOW CAY is a Reader View Annual Literary Awards finalist in the Mystery/Thriller/ Suspense category, what's the next step? Their first go-around is done and now the books are in the hands of the second line judges to decide on the line-up. (First, Second, Honorable Mention.) What now? I'll have to wait (patiently) for the winner/placement list which they hope to have on or by March 3rd.

Hi, Leona! Welcome to the forum. We met at the Southern Festival of Books, last year in Nashville. :)

Hi Shawn, Thanks for the warm welcome! So good to see you again. Nashville was a lot of FUN! Are you doing the the Southern Festival of Books this year? It was a lot of FUN and sales. I'd like to and would like to try Decatur too. :-). Was so sorry to hear about Davis-Kidd Bookstore ;-(  I'm constantly honing my strategies for these changing times!

I have 4 major events scheduled as of now. The first being the MidSouth HomeSchool Convention in Memphis, next week. Then two more events here in Nashville in May and June, and finally Decatur in September.

After touring the SFoB, I don't know that it is worth the cost. I think you split the cost with the other ladies, correct? I had friends up from Atlanta who did it and had a so-so show in sales. There didn't seem to be a lot of activities or emphasis on kids/teens - which is what I write.  Decatur was loaded with kids and families so that will be worth it.

Last year Diane and I were the guests of the American Pen Women. So our only cost was $25/a day for the space. So we made out well, but if the APW show up in force, we'll not have the same gravy train as last year.

I didn't even think about Decatur until we talked about it last October ;-) so thanks for the tip! Shawn, here's wishing you 4 very successful shows, and I look forward to seeing you in Decatur. I'm concentrating on regional shows this year (Miami Book Festival, Delray & Mt Dora - they each have about 250K attendees:-) since my thrillers have Florida & Bahamian settings.

Did you hear about displaying your books for FREE with the Massachusetts Library Assoc. Conference in April?

No. Interesting. I'll have to look into the Massachusetts conference. Thanks.

Among other things, they're interested in juvenile fiction, registration deadline is April 4th & full details are here:

Thanks! I really appreciate it.
