I have you beat!! I will be 67 in January, but our ages only gaurantee that what we say has been backed up by experience. (smile) It is my pleasure, once again, to be your friend. Take care. Paris

You can count on it. In the near future we shall connect again and begin to move forward. Have you heard of the FortyPlus and Fabulous movement? Check it out, there maybe something of interest to you. Even if you're not yet 40, you have much experience and wisdom which will be of benefit to women. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter; I am ORIGINALPARIS.

Dear Barbara, Thank you, I am fine and hope that you are the same. I looked at your wordpress site and was surprised, but comforted, to know that we have lived similar lives. This similarity gives us an opportunity to support each other in furthering the cause of women learning to take care of themselves and their children. For years I have worked to bring attention to families involved in child abuse, which often includes spousal abuse. Currently, however, I am working on my "Restore Childhood Project" to bring back the opportunity for children to be able to enjoy being children rather than expected to endure adult responsibilities. I hope we will stay connected and look forward to getting to know each other better. Take care and God bless, Paris

Hello Barbara
I tried to add you on Facebook but for some reason it isn't working right now. I will try again later today. Glad to hear you are back to work. What are you doing now?

Hello Barbara
I owe you such a huge apology because I still haven't answered your email on LinkedIn. It is so nice to see you here as well. I am so all over the map these days with marketing the book and real estate. Most days I forget which end is up. Are you also on Facebook? I seem to be spending more time there of late.

I wish you such a wonderful Thanksgiving and giving thanks and counting our blessings should start with that first breath we take in the morning.....It's a new day!

Love
Irene

Hi Barbara, We haven't communicated in a while. Tell me what you think of this excerpt from my book The Journey.
Twinkle Toes (everyone called him this because of the way he ran) and Josh bought four plastic model Navy Ships, glued them together, painted them and put on decals. Dad had his pride and joy in the backyard. It was a 15-foot diameter pool, four feet deep. “Can you guess what is coming? Yup! “
While sitting around the pool admiring their ships, Josh and Twinkle Toes thought it would be cool to sail them around the pool in mock naval battles. Two of the ships were battleships with large guns. Having a great time, they discussed that they needed to make the battle more realistic. What good is a naval battle if a ship couldn’t be sunk with a huge explosion? After all, that’s what happens in the comic books and movies.
A scenario of one of the ships blowing up was created in the young minds. They thought it through and visualized it. Running into his house and grabbing a cherry bomb he had been saving for Fourth of July, Josh showed it to Twinkle Toes. They wanted an explosion and they were gonna get one. A cherry bomb placed in the innards of one of the battleships, the fuse came through the smoke stack. After lighting the fuse, Twinkle Toes pushed the boat to the center of the pool. Two seconds later there was an explosion you could hear a block away. That battleship disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Pieces of it flew by the boys and out into the yard. It was awesome! Then noticing pieces of plastic ship all over the bottom of dad’s prized pool, and his Dad’s probable reaction, they climbed into the pool, still in their clothes. After thirty minutes all the pieces of plastic, or so they thought were picked up. However it skipped their minds to gather pieces of the ship from the bushes in the yard.
Two days later was a Sunday, and Maurice came into the backyard finding a flood covering the grass. There had been a lot of rain recently, and the ground wouldn’t absorb all of the pool’s water. The pool was just about empty. They had obviously missed more plastic than they found. Maurice walked around inside it and found four or five pieces of jagged ship the boys had missed, stuck through the bottom of the liner. They probably stepped on them, causing them to pierce the bottom. He walked around the yard and picked up about five more pieces caught in the bushes. Maurice was no fool; he knew immediately what had been done. He came into the house and came up to his son’s room. He saw the three remaining ships on the dresser. He held out his hand with the jagged plastic and asked him,” Where is the rest of this ship?” Lying was useless; Josh could tell his dad already knew the answer. Confessing to what he did was one of the hardest things he had to do as a kid. Of course Josh tried to shift some of the blame to Twinkle Toes which made it even worse for him. Dad didn’t spank him, though he deserved it; he simply restricted Josh from the pool for one month. It was a horrible punishment, seeing it was summer vacation and it was HOT. His sisters made sure he suffered even more by laughing and making fun of his foolishness. A simple patch and the pool filled again in two days. His punishment lasted forever in his mind.
