The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Authors Working Together to Sell More Books

"Your life changes when you meet people." - Sterling Valentine

I want to encourage the authors and publishers on this Book Marketing Network to work together to help each other to sell more books. That's the main reason I created this network in the first place.

There are so many ways that you can help each other. For example, I wrote an article on 30 Ways to Help a Book Author You Love - http://www.bookmarket.com/loveawriter.htm. Most of those ways apply not only to your friends but also to authors helping each other.

In addition, you can do joint ventures, Amazon Bestseller Campaigns, blog tours, and more.

Please use this forum right here to list your requests for partners as well as your responses or offers to help other authors.

You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish if you work together rather than alone.

For example, I'd love to see a fiction writers co-op promotion where each novelist promotes the other members in the co-op on their blog or website or social network. Tweet about each other. Like each others' Facebook page. Do joint blog tours.

Poets can do the same thing. So can business book authors. Spiritual authors. Christian authors. Cookbook authors. Etc.

Hi everyone,

I agree with John. In fact, we're doing an Amazon Bestseller/Affiliate Marketing Campaign for our latest book, The Call of Sedona: Journey of the Heart by Ilchi Lee (http://www.callofsedona.com). It's a cross between a memoir, a travel guide, and a meditation guide with gorgeous photographs of Sedona, Arizona, a place famous for its breathtaking views and vortex energy that attracts thousands of visitors every year.

We are offering a free gifts to everyone who buys a copy or more from Amazon.com on November 8th. If you would like to contribute a free gift that will be advertised to Ilchi Lee's fans and students, which number close to 100,000, and market the offer to your fans in return, just go to http://www.callofsedona.com/gifts/partner. You can fill in your information there.

As a partner, we will also give you a free copy of the book and access to a lecture given by Ilchi Lee on meditation.

Feel free to contact me for more information at michela@bestlifemedia.com.

Thanks a lot!

I totally agree great message!

John, great job on taking the lead on bringing authors together!  We are all in the same boat we might as well takes turns rowing!!! Kudos

If I can help you to promote your book, by posting an interview, let me know.  I'd love to find out about your latest book, what inspired you to write it and share this with the world. If you've written a book shoot me a message and lets set up an on-line interview.

John, or others on this discussion, I am a physician who gives occasional medical lectures or free clinic care, but I mostly write books - a children's book series about a therapy dog and adult novels with obviously credible medicine in the background of the plots.

Anyway, here's my question.  I just published a self-help book  - there are so many out there without the credibility factor behind them :(   - mine is an offshoot of what I lecture about.  It is for people over 50 - Younger Next Decade After Fifty, the Transitional Decade, and What You Need to Know.  Since this is a totally new genre for me and it looks as if my normal marketing of adult novels isn't working, does anyone have any suggestions for marketing a self-help/advice book?

My website features the book on page two.  Thanks for any suggestions!    http://barbaraebel.weebly.com

Barbara,

I am a publisher and as such one series I put out is the 99 Series Books. It is a self-help series. I suggest you start with a survey and locate your audience.

These things should really have been done prior to you even beginning the writing process. I have a short publishing guide that you will find informative, even at this juncture. You can find it at my publishing website http://www.documeantpublishing.com/.

Another suggestion, if I may; nursing homes, retirement villages, senior centers and such are always looking for free speakers. Back of the room sales is worth the time investment, usually.

To your continued success,

Thanks Ginger.  Appreciate that.  I am already so involved with retirement facilities where I bring my therapy dog to "work."

I have good advice in my book and did a good job with the cover, I believe.  It just needs a kick start!!

Barbara,

Keep up the good work. Remember, all good things come with work and dedication. In your profession, I am certain you already know that fact.

Ginger

Hello Everyone. Fiction Authors listed on Amazon may wish to check out the new blog if they wish for a review of their book by other authors at

http://fiction-authors.blogspot.com/

Best wishes and regards to all members of this netwok.

You can't post your title until you've reviewed an already posted title. So how does it get started? There are no titles to review.

I think you're in a club populated by thousands of indie authors. I am an established writer with eight hardback novels to my credit, but now that I'm releasing some of those on Amazon, the response has been disappointing. Perhaps you are trying to sell book rather than yourself. If that's not true, then I apologise, but we are all in the same boat. Promotion and marketing is the key; get that sorted and you may start attracting readers.

Interviewing Writers

I have been trying to help out some writers by doing interviews on my blog.  I really thought that many people and other writers would take some interest and leave a comment or two of encouragement.  In spite of my efforts announcing the up and coming interviews each week on many social groups, I have been quite disappointed in the lack of support.

Perhaps I am going about it the wrong way.  Maybe someone could give me advice.
