The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I'd like to start a new forum where people can talk about what's working for you right now in marketing your book.

I think this will help other authors to prioritize their activities if they can find out what's working for other people. This would be especially valuable to new authors.

I've share the hottest tool that I'm using right now. And that's Twitter. As you will note on the main page of this Book Marketing Network website, both my http://www.bookmarket.com website and this network have been rising in Alexa ranks (and visits) because of my use of Twitter.

Whose book are you talking about? :) Mine - Toxic - should be $2.99.

Hi Theresa,
I'd love to know how to become my own publisher.

Alberta, I can give you a free copy of an e-book I wrote to help people narrow down the best self-publishing company for them. Just let me know if you want it in kindle format or Word or whatever.

I don't have a Kindle yet.  Odd, huh.  Can you email as an attachment.

I've been so busy, Steve. Did I send you my pdf file on A Spiritual Renewal; A Journey to Medjuguorje?

Hi, Steve,

What a generous offer! I'd love a copy. Please send it as kindle to adinizo@hotmail.com and I will down load it to my PC. I self-publish and it is hard work!!

   Thanks!

I have to say that what's working for me right now is KDP Select marketing. Each time I offer one of my novels for free I get tens of thousands of downloads and heavy visibility on the amazon rankings. This carries over after the giveaway ends. Each month since April my sales have increased. For the month of July, sales totals for my two novels exceeded 900.

Hello Susan,

I hear often that people offer their Kindle books for free for a certain length of time. How do you do that with Amazon?

Thanks!

You have to sign up for Kindle Select on your kindle site where you have your books. The hitch is, for 90 days you must only have that title for sale there. This gives you 5 days to promote your title free and also qualifies you for the "borrow" perk, meaning that any buyer who has "Amazon Prime" can borrow your book for free. The good thing is that you, the author, gets paid for this, currently about $2.35 per borrow. But you must take your title off any other sites that sell it like B&N or Smashwords, etc, BEFORE you sign up for the Kindle Select (for that title only).

Susan, I have my book advertised on so many locations, I can't even remember where they all are. That means after the 90 days you can go back and re-enter your titles?

What if you innocently forget a few locations your book is on?

Amazon will find them and remove your book from the KDP select program.

That's great.  Thank you.  I may try that with my three books. Can you do more than one at a time?

Alberta, I didn't notice your wording ... you sad "advertised" in many locations. Does this me they are FOR SALE in those locations?  Like at B&N, etc? Advertising is one thing, selling is another.

And yes, you can put as many titles as you want into the KDP program. But you need to make sure they are not available FOR SALE on other websites first.

Good luck!
