The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I'd like to start a new forum where people can talk about what's working for you right now in marketing your book.

I think this will help other authors to prioritize their activities if they can find out what's working for other people. This would be especially valuable to new authors.

I've share the hottest tool that I'm using right now. And that's Twitter. As you will note on the main page of this Book Marketing Network website, both my http://www.bookmarket.com website and this network have been rising in Alexa ranks (and visits) because of my use of Twitter.

A 5-star review is fantastic.

John

Is it possible you could tell me how many dollars your book has made from your idea?

I think, for me at the moment it'd have to be signing events, talks and related fairs and exhibitions.

What would help me out Ivin is to know how many dollars your book has made with your idea? Regards, Richard

I have a weird problem.  My computer is set for English, and yet, if I go onto the Google website or get anything from them, it's in chinese?! Has this happened to anyone?

HI there

I am new to this forum.

For me one thing that works well are school visits.  It takes a bit of effort to get invites sometimes BUT school visits lead to sales to the library and often some to the children too. MY best in terms of sales was 40 books in a day but usually it is more like 6 BUT of course I am giving every child a book mark too.

I find Twitter to be very effective in promoting my book, Love's True Home. I have 22,000+ followers and average between 30-50 new followers every day.

I use humour, poetry, philosophy and inspirational prose to engage others and it works just fine.

The same applies to Facebook where I have several pages (15+) and us the same approach. My Sri Gawn Tu Fahr fan page is the most popular one with 14,800 fans.

Hi,

I loved every word of what you said. Yes, good, sensible promotion by us authors is totally necessary. Cannot tell you of people who said they'd review one of my books, so I mailed it to them or sent a pdf and no review, nothing. I have vowed that this new year 2013 my focus is my writing and right after that, promoting my books properly.  Happy and peaceful 2013!

If you haven't already look on Author's Den under "success stories" you should take a peek. There is a wealth of information to be mined there, such as, pop genres, what's selling and what's not, who is actually selling and to whom, and so on. Good Luck.

Are you or anyone else who might be reading this familiar with Author's Den?

I remember in 2006 when I named my first book A Healing Heart: A Spiritual Renewal. I almost died seeing hundreds of books with that title. In 2012, I republished with another self-publisher and named it A Spiritual Renewal; A Journey to Medugorje with a new book cover.

Made a short promo video about how to take pictures of the Northern Lights and some of Fredriks images and time lapse movies. With music! Check it out and enjoy. Start hunting the lights...and bring your camera with you. Hope you like the book.
