What's Your Biggest Challenge with Your Book?

I'd be interested to learn what authors/publishers on this network think their biggest challenges are with their book. I wonder if there's any common, pervasive challenge we all face.

For me The biggest challenge will be getting more people to know about your book

Current challenge is to get over a hundred views on this week's edition of What I Am Reading. This time around I am featuring Strange Portals. Hope you all can help with the ratings.

The biggest challenge ?

Well, promoting the book is definitly the most difficult stuff.

As long as your book covers are doing what you want them to do, ignore everyone else. The point of them is to sell books, and if they sell book then you're fine. However if you're changing them because YOU want to then that's different. I had the same trouble with my original covers - several people made comments about them, but when I changed them it wasn't because of that, but because I was tired of them and wanted a change. However I had some fans who liked the old covers and so I still make paperbacks with the old style covers for them.

I think the trouble with facebook isn't the readers - it's facebook. Almost none of the people who have liked my page get to see my posts - unless I pay, of course. I have started a newsletter and went through and messaged all the fans one at a time. needless to say most of them did not join it (as most of the fans, once I looked, were fellow authors who also wanted their pages liked) but I did get 50 signups, so that was roughly 1/12th LOL! Anyway, I think facebook is getting too big for its britches and am waiting to see what will topple it.

My next biggest hurtle has been finding any unknown writer marketing statistics.

Here's a challenge-help me get the word out about a fellow indie author. Head on over to What I Am Reading and be sure to post your comment on the blog. Thanks!
