The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I am looking for a publisher for my recently completed book entitled The Bucyrus That Was. This memoir describes my experiences while growing up during the 1950s in Small Town (Bucyrus, Ohio) America. I began writing after completing a long career as a college basketball coach and athletic director. I was fortunate enough to have had my first book, entitled All Guts and No Glory, published by NewSouth Books, Inc. Unfortunately, NewSouth is a southern regional company and is not interested in publishing a book that is about growing up in Mid-West. With this in mind, I am trying to find an Ohio based publisher. I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me related to indentifying some potential publishers located in the Buckeye state for my second memoir.

Hi, Bill--I'm in your same boat--Bantam published the first book and now I'm sitting on two, three, etc.
If you're not busy, why not start a puyblising house for us? Just kidding. Obviously, we can't sell our own--or we'd be doing it. PublishAmerica accepted the book on Friday and Strategic yesterday--little did I know they're both POD--I didn't even know what Publish on Demand meant. Not only do we need an Ohio publisher, even more we need an Ohio agent. Feel free to e-mail sstocker@sbcglobal.net and we can share whatever inroads we make. susan
I know the original post is old, but it is really pertinent. I just did a presentation for the North West Ohio Writer's Forum (www.NWOWF.com) in Toledo. It was on self-publishing. Quite frankly, there is nothing a traditional publisher or vanity press can do that you can't! Do you really need a publishing house? Why not set one up yourself and reap all the benefits? It isn't much more work. You just need to push a little harder to promote, sell and manage your book marketing and appearences. I've heard so many horror stories about mistakes made in finding a publisher for a book. I am appalled by the 'publishing' companies out there that take advantage of an author without any providing any benefits. Word to the wise - if they aren't using YOUR ISBN, then the book really isn't yours anymore!
Has anybody had any luck with this? I would like to know of any updates on this topic!

I have a suggestion for finding a Ohio book publisher.  I did a google search for Ohio publishers and found several listed.  I do not know them personally but there are several I found that exist in Ohio that I never knew existed.  Hope this helps
