There are thousands of fantasy related books or ebooks available on internet.. Most of these contain same story lines. But what are the actual and most important contents of a fantasy book??

Interesting fantasy characters not found in normal everyday life such as faeries, elves, talking animals, etc. And very importantly magick of all kinds that enables the characters in the tale to do extraordinary things (not just fantasy characters but real people as well.) The things listed above along with a quest of some sort makes for a good fantasy story. Lots of action/adventure and descriptions are a must also.
I say there definitely needs to be magic involved or some type of creatures that aren't aliens, don't come from another dimension and aren't scientifically explained. I also think there should be a classic element of good vs. evil or some type of quest. To me, the defining line of fantasy has always been based on whether or not there was magic involved. I suppose that a lot of people think there should always be fairires, dragons, elves and orcs, but that is only fantasy based on Celtic [Tolkien-ish] concepts...what about a fantasy based on Aztec concepts or African ones? The magic would still be there...but I think the dragons would be quite different and instead of elves or fairies, maybe there would be a witch from the center of the earth. Don't get me wrong. I love traditional fantasy, but it is fun to play around with it.
