CAPTAIN BOOTSIE BEAR AND HIS FEARLESS CREW

Profile Information

Something About Me and My Book:
I'm retired and live in the Lake Como area of Italy. I like writing for children and have a children's educational web site that's a bit wacky and different but it seems to work! My book is called, The Amazing Adventures of Captain Bootsie Bear and His Fearless Crew. Captain Bootsie & His Crew are from a planet called Puppy World. They have won a school competition for excellence to travel to different worlds to learn about their world & cultures in the hopes that knowledge is the key to understanding & harmony between different peoples. It's a journey that takes the reader to places where the heart is free and the world is a joyous place. My book taps into the imagination of all kids from 1 to 106, while reaching out and encouraging understanding. The four protagonists in the book are real dogs. Captain Bootsie Bear is the big lovable captain who loves to eat and cook. Cmdr Tank loves sports, history and legends. Cmdr Ralph loves to invent new gadgets, explore science and nature. Cmdr Baby Girl loves art, music, fashion. They behave like brothers and sister. Each of the four are really unique onto themselves.

THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN BOOTSIE BEAR AND HIS FEARLESS CREW!

Captain Bootsie and his sibling crewmembers are recent graduates of a prestigious inter-galactic training academy. As top finishers of their program, they have been honored by earning their first plum assignment involving time travel to Earth. Upon arrival they explore the flora and fauna of our planet, taking the reader along for a unique experience of experiencing Earth through the eyes of these 20 pound furry explorers. Powered by their sense of adventure and led by their stoic leader Captain Bootsie Bear, this fearless foursome plunge into their new world, restrained only by their need for power naps and a full belly! Never preaching, always teaching, these darling black fuzz covered space travelers carry a message that all future generations caring for our planet should read. We are the caretakers and better “get it together” soon or as Ralph says, “Nowhere else can you get a gift like this. What you do today affects tomorrow.”

Stimulating, fun, and refreshing in its simplicity, The Amazing Adventures of Captain Bootsie Bear and His Fearless Crew is a good read for any child as well as those who still wish we were a child! Click on our book to begin your adventure!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL EARTHLINGS!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ONE AND ALL!

Did you know that the modern holiday of Halloween has its origins in the ancient Gaelic festival known as Samhain (pronounced /ˈsˠaunʲ/ from the Old Irish samain). The Festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is erroneously regarded as 'The Celtic New Year'.Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. From one dog lover to another! My Steve and Jim salute yours. Your book sounds charming, as do your characters. You sure know the difference between preaching and teaching.

Further back than my vanity will let me share, I spent a summer in a little village called San Giovanni, which is near Bellagio. What a stunning place!

Hugs,

thanks for your comments. I've never heard of those network marketing. What exactly do they do to help in the marketing of your book. Can you check my website and let me know if anything is wrong with it, as I'm not getting many sales using it... thanks Shirley www.shirleydicks.net

Hi Judith, your book sounds great....I'd love to be able to write children's books but I never can come up with something that hasn't already been done....

Marketing is hard for me as well and since my new book has been out it's not sold very well either..not sure why. It may be my website but not sure. www.amotherstorment.com

I haven't done any booksignings with it yet as it's ah\\hard for me to get out to do them any more. Im disabled and it's hard to walk much and with heart failure it's hard to carry anything. So I'm trying to sell them on the websites but guess I"ll have to come up with something else....

Good to meet you. Shirley

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the advice. I know children's books are a tough market unless your a known name, or a pop star, etc...etc.. then it doesn't matter if the book is good or not because the name sells the product... but I'm going to keep plugging because the book is good and deserves at least a look at. I've had the book professionally critiqued by reputable persons and they all agree it's fresh and needs to go out....whoever said it was easy? Also I'm donating 50% of the proceeds to charity to help children and animals. I'll check out your web site to look for solutions. Talk to later!

Best regards
Judith

Hello Judith,

Great to hear from you. Very few agents represent children's books (I don't) because the advances and royalty rates are so small for most kids books--and it's a tough market (highly competitive). There are a few agents out there who represent children's books but you have to look very hard. I've got a lot of information on my blog about the Writing Life--and it's searchable. Hope that helps. Plus check out my Right-Writing.com site. I've got a whole children's writer area on that site--and thousands of pages of information--not just me but other writers.

Best wishes,

Terry
