Something About Me and My Book:: Cynthia Collins had every intention of pursuing a career in classical music. She studied piano and choral composition throughout school and graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor of Music degree in music theory. That led to summer school at the Universitat Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, then on to graduate studies at Mannes College of Music in New York. But, all of that changed when she would go to South Street Seaport and watch the ships. She signed up as a volunteer with South Street Seaport Museum and has worked with historic house and maritime museums ever since.

Her first novel, The Unicorn Tree, combines the mystery of a historic house, tall ships, and getting lost at sea, with universal themes of family, friendship, uncertainty, and independence. It was released in April, 2012, by Mockingbird Lane Press.
