I am an experience urban educator who taught grades six through eleven.
I created an asset mapping system, Creating Gifted Classrooms for At-Risk Kids, A Journey from Compliance to Community. Students, our clients, come to us at risk and the environment we create or fail to create further puts them at risk.
As a reading improvement teacher and instructional specialist working directly in the classroom of teachers, I found effective teachers exhibit certain strengths, skills, capacities. Based on what I saw, I developed activities to support those not as effective.
Eventually I created a system for other instructional specialists (coaches) to assist teachers improve their practices.
