Are YA's Going in the Wrong Direction?

No, this is not about vampires - before anyone gets upset. :)  This is actually about the fact that I have just received a box of new YA releases that are coming out in October.  Out of the fifteen sent - twelve are about meth, other drugs, child abuse, divorce, fear, and suicide.  In this world that is already more than a bit depressed, shouldn't we be leaning toward entertainment?
