Marketing idea

I am completely new at marketing, for it has been an issue that I really didn't know was an issue back when I was beginning my first book project.  Now that I have finished one project and have got two other ones underway, I now realize that I want my translators who have been working hard to be rewarded by at least some moderate book sales. 

To get to the original intentions of this thread, I was thinking that it would be nice to have people who have some knowledge in marketing self-published books but are not necessarily professionals, who want more experience and an opportunity to work in the field, to set up a system where they work off commission, such as get a percent of the sales.  I think this would be a very good system (if it doesn't already exist), because it would motivate them to take each book and find a way to market it in a way that best suits that specific book, and not just charge a fee and go through their typical routine that "usually" works in a one size fits all way.
