Newbie Saying Hello - and a question about my publisher

Hello All

I'm new to this website and forum and wanted to say hi. I now have my 3rd book contract under-way. Having published a text book on psychotherapy for the world'd largest publishers of education-related books (Sage) 10 years ago, I stopped writing for a while and concentrated on photography.

My latest photography book was published by The Liffey Press (Dublin) last month (SEE HERE) and I'm now back with Sage writing another text book, to be published next year.

My main concerns at the moment would be around how to get my photography book publisher to market my book more effectively - as I seem to spend much of my time doing it myself. Although, even when I go into book stires and tell them that I'm a local author with a book that would look good on their shelves and display tables, they don't always seem very interested.

I'm semding a new promotional idea to my publisher every day, and contacting the press, organisations and book stores that may be interested in seeing it on his behalf. It's getting great reviews, but I'm left feeling that the publisher could be doing more.

Are others in a similar position? Or do you have publishers who really market your books well?
