Working with Distributors and Wholesalers when on POD

How do you suppose to make your POD books work with distributors and wholesales. By the time you get your books send to you and you send them back to the wholesaler you lost your money. Am I missing something?

The best way is to first go with Lightning Source and create your own company. Next you are going to have to act as your own distributor to give the bookstores their discounts with out a loss then cold call bookstores. Start with independent bookstores. Make sure they are returnable. Then cold call B&N. They will place short runs of your book in the store but do not expect them to push it at all. When you call ask about placing bookmarks or displays in their store for the book. They will let you know what will work for them and then work with it. Bookmarks you should pay for initially, but after that you need to charge the bookstores for it. Also for B&N you need to be listed in their system. The long way to do it is by submitting to B&N small press department, the fast way is with lightning source you are automatically placed in the B&N system. They will not take any book not listed in their system.
