My first book of poetry, "Shadows of My Father" was released on November 2, 2011. This has been dedicated to the memory of my father, Philip Thomas Keller, who died in 2003 from lung cancer. You can purchase it online at:
In addition to writing poetry, short stories and lyrics, I am also an avid nature photographer, and have been published online at various ezines and journals. I have been published in print with SP Quill and Phosphorescence Magazine. Check out the following links to view my poetry and photography:
Hi Colleen. Thanks so much for reading about my characters. I'm very flattered!! I'd like to invite you to visit my website, www.martastephens-author.com as well as my blog http://mstephens-musings.blogspot.com. I'm in the middle of my August virtual book tour and you'll find all my previously published interviews and articls on both sites. The agenda for future tour blogs, chats, and interviews are listed in the Events page of my website!
I'm happy to become your friend. Thank you for inviting me. I also hope you will visit my blog - http://theauthor2.blogstream.com
when you get the time. Thanks very much.
Hi Colleen! It's very nice to meet you. I've always admired poets, love to read poetry but don't think I could write it myself. I bet it's great to live in south Florida!
Oh thank-you Colleen. I look forward to chatting with you also. Please visit www.climateofourfuture.org
I am usually there working on the blog, look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks for the query. I'm currently completing the sequel to "Surfing Treasure's Wake". Its entitled "The Cardinal Pirate" and if you are familiar with the Jacksonville area, you'll recognize the history I've included about the founding of St. Augustine and the massacre of Jene Ribault. Look for it soon, hopefully :-)
I love your photographs they're beautiful, and your poems are as well! I've written a few poems myself and I have to admit, writing poetry for me is more difficult than any of my novels were. Congratulations on your fine work.
Thanks for the friend request. It's nice to see you on this site as well. I suppose the heat is brutal in Florida right now. I can't even stand it when it gets in the 90's up here in the hills. Stay cool.
Thanks for adding me, Colleen! I like your site, and your cat is adorable! Check out my other website, if you'd like; my excerpt from my novel and more stuff is on it since I started it first.

Hi Colleen,
Thanks for your kind words and for your interest in my suspense novel, CROSSHAIRS. Always nice to hear from someone who has 'connections' in north-central PA. It's a beautiful area and I miss it! Welcome to my circle!

Lulu seems fair and I like the quality. I uploaded my content in Word and Lulu converted it to pdf. The pictures reproduce very well and I had a lot of control over the cover. I don't know about the other self pubishing companies. You can upload your project and decide when to publish it. I changed mine a few times before publishing, when you do that, you just upload the corrected file and delete the old file. Same with the cover, you can use a stock cover or upload your own. It has to fit the cover so that took some cropping. I used a picture of two F-16's that I turned into a painting for my cover.
Best wishes,
This picture in uniform was taken about ten years after I retired. My daughter graduated from medical school which she attended on an Air Force scholarship. Upon graduation she was promoted to Captain and I administered the oath. After residency as a general surgeon, she will spend three years in the Air Force beginniing in 09. By that time she will be a Major. Can you tell I'm a little proud of her?
Thanks for your comment, Colleen. Pleasure to meet you, too. And you look very familiar to someone that I just befriended on Myspace.
So far (with the first four novels, anyway) the stories have all been set in Florida. The majority of the time, in Northeast Florida. I try to incorporate what I consider to be interesting history. And as you're probably aware, Amelia Island is full of it with its antebellum homes, territorial period lighthouse, Fort Clinch, etc. With "Half-Red Skull," I was also able to mesh the strange history of Osceola's missing skull. As with any book, it was a labor of love to create. lol.
Hey, Colleen!
So glad to "meet" you. I love poetry, particularly British 19th century and earlier, but I also have gone through stages of infatuation with the works of Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, and, to a lesser extent, Greenleaf Whittier. Give me "The Road Less Taken," anyday! (I still know it by heart.) And, some of Langston Hughes' "blues" poetry is to die for! (I warned you: I love poetry!) I will have to look up your work. OH--last, but not least, that troubadour poet, Bob Dylan! Despite some quirky or silly nonsense, some of his work is *almost* sublime.
(From an ex-teenage-Dylan-fan!)
Thanks again, hope to see you around the network--and maybe other places?? :D

Thanks for posting back so quickly, Colleen. I see we must be online at the same time. My kids are nagging me to swim with them, though (it's 98F here in Ohio, today!), so I'm off. But thanks for that suggestion about Collins' poetry. After I get to yours, of course, I'll have to check out his.

When Jane Fonda's father died, despit his neglect of her, she said it was like opening up a gate between her and her own mortality.
Love is not always power; that may be as
good a description of the human predicament
as we are likely to get.
Remember the many
compartments of the heart,
the seed of what is
possible. So much of who
we are is defined by
the places we hold for each
other. For it is not our ingenuity
that sets us apart, but our
capacity for love, the
possibility our way will
be lit by grace. Our hearts
prisms, chiseling out the
colors of pure light.
