Here in the UK, as soon as we publish our book with our name with the copyright symbol my understanding is that we automatically have that copyright (providing the work is original and not copied). I believe that in the US you actually register for copyright. So I guess that is what you have to do. No doubt someone on this site can tell you where.

Hey there--I enjoyed looking at your website and I do have a few comments if you'd like them. I never know if people want them or not.... When I ask for criticism, I really, really want it but I guess you never know. Anyway, I absolutely love mysteries and crime drama, so I'm excited about what you're writing. I'm an author too (well I'm sure working on it LOL) and I'd absolutely love it if you'd check out my blog at http://teacherintl.typepad.com/blog/ . Just let me know and I'll send my thoughts if you want. Take care and good luck! You've done a lot of hard work.
