When I was a small child I wrote essays, articles and short stories and collected rejectiion slips.  When I was 12 years old, my class allowed me to write their annual play, Song of Slop Hallow.  My grandmother Daisy Brown who had only an eighth grade education taught Sunday school and read Guideposts and the Reader's Digest every month.  She asked me to write her lifestory and together we wrote Daisy's Life.  But I got a scholarship to the Sorbonne and left for France before I finished the book.  My sister Kathy wrote the final chapters.  In college I studied Creative Writing and wrote more short stories, essays and poems.  When I was a single mother with one son we lived in New York City and I wrote articles for magazines and earned enough to support us on a poverty level.  One day an editor advised me to write a book saying my articles would be easier to sell and earn more money.  I met Jenifer Wolf and we wrote Runaways, America's Lost Youth.  I met Anais Nin, one of my fav orite authors and she wrote the preface for that book.  Later I wrote her life story.  Writing a book I learned that was what I prefered to do and I have been writing b ooks ever since.  Maryanne Raphael
