Cold Roots

Cold roots uprooted by God,
Just as Moses led his people with a mighty rod,
To a land of uncertainty, brutality and shame,
Stripped from their homeland, heritage and names,
Forced to work the land as oxen...As Slaves,
Beaten, whipped and buried in unnamed graves,
The Great Master knew all along,
With preservation and patience, He would hear our songs,
The country our oppressors over took, never could have contrived,
How a low-life being, not only gained freedom, but overcame and survived…
