Uncle Herman takes place in a 1930s West Virginia Mining Town. I am using canines as characters in the society. The main character Uncle Herman is depicted as a Great Dane. He is a coal hauler. He trys to care for these nibe orphans, eight boys one girl. The girl Jennifer needs a hip operation. Herman is fighting insurmountable odd. He finally finds an ally in the daughter of the mine owner. Together they work to right the wrong.
