The "Dark-Side" of American Politics: Dog Talks

The Dark-Side of American Politics: Dog Talks’ (ISBN: 978-0-9841422-2-4) is the story of a German Shepherd dog who was smuggled into the US. He died during the transport but with help from God he received a second chance with a new life, plus the gift to be able to speak as a human to only persons who could understand him.

The wife and daughter of a politician (Governor) buy him from a pet store to live with their family. They name the dog Peter. The husband—a politician, named Jonathan, really hates Peter. At the beginning of the story, Jonathan makes Peter feel that he isn’t welcome in a country where dogs are a man’s best friend.

The conflict between Jonathan and Peter comes to a climax when one day the wife and daughter are not at home: Jonathan tries to annoy Peter by not feeding him, while complaining that to take care of Peter is a burden on his income and making sarcastic remarks that Peter should find a job to take care of himself.

While Jonathan is cooking breakfast for himself, he accidentally knocks over a bottle of maple syrup on the kitchen table. The syrup oozes on his foot; Peter licks it up, as he is famished. Peter’s soft tongue gives Jonathan’s sexual sensations. A dirty idea immediately flashed in his mind—next, they are standing together in the bathtub; Jonathan pours syrup over his ass-cheek at short intervals, while masturbating, as Peter keeps licking it off from behind.

“Oh My God, no one’s ever done that to me. I can’t believe you do that to me,” Jonathan moans.

Afterwards, Jonathan has changed his mean attitude toward Peter and they understand each other, he takes Peter with him everywhere he goes. Before leaving, Jonathan gives Jason a good-bye kiss at the front door, without realizing that paparazzi have followed him and taken his photo.

That same evening, his photo kissing Jessica /Jason appears on all the media. People believe that he is a homosexual. Jonathan has a very difficult time trying to explain to people that Jason, as seen in the photo, is actually Jessica. Every time he goes to see her, he sees Jessica, not Jason.

Politics create strong cultural and moral rules within our societies and lives. The fact that all of us are human beings is hidden behind the identities attached to every individual: nationality, background, races, colors, cultures, and genders—are all that really matter—while Jason can sometimes be Jessica and Jessica can be Jason.

My use of a German Shepherd dog can be compared to an illegal immigrant revealing their opinions of America.. The book doesn’t aim to blame any specific politician; rather it is a literary method used to express my opinion of the biased political agendas against immigrants, transgenders and other unrepresented minority groups in American politics. There are many political issues that you see everyday in American politics found in this story. You may have read many politically-oriented books in the past, but this one is different.
