The book, Savannah's Black "First Ladies",Vol. I, chronicles the accomplishments, hardships, trials and triumphs of African-American women in Savannah, Georgia, who were pioneers - "first" in their chosen professions. The focus is on women in Savannah, but the theme is universal- celebrating the achievements of black women whose stories are often overlooked and undervalued.
The inspiration for Savannah's Black "First Ladies" comes from Pamela Howard-Oglesby. Brenda L. Roberts conducted eight years of extensive research to bring the book to press. Both ladies are native Savannahians who work to improve the community.
