CrackerBoy is my grandad's story as a Florida pioneer, age 10, who arrived in Fort Pierce with his family in 1886. They lived on a houseboat and had a cook tent at their homestead grant on South Hutchinson Island, now a valuable property called Jennings Cove. (Jennings was the family name). They relocated to the mainland after the hurricane of 1889; in 1902 built home at 647 North Second Street (still there), where I spent all my holidays when I was a child, listening to my grandad's "years and years ago" tales.
